COMPANY MANAGEMENT

  • Jason Chen
    Co-Founder, CEO, President and Director
  • Mr. Chen has over two decades of experience working internationally in the hospitality, capital markets and private equity industries. He has previously overseen the establishment of many successful restaurant franchises in Taiwan, having founded Bayshore Pacific Hospitality Ltd in 2013, which now operates 28 restaurants across Taiwan including international chains Texas Roadhouse, Dan Ryan’s Chicago Grill, TGI Friday’s, and Smith & Wollensky. Bayshore Pacific now employs more than 1,300 people and generates combined annual revenues of more than $100 million.

     

    Mr. Chen also serves on the board of directors for Smith & Wollensky Taipei, and is the Managing Director of a capital partnership corporation that specializes in corporate financings in both private and public sectors, with offices in Hong Kong and Vancouver, Canada. He holds a Juris Doctorate and degrees in economics and philosophy.

  • Adam Kniec
    Chief Financial Officer
  • Mr. Kniec is an experienced CFO with over 20 years of CFO, senior management, accounting, auditing, financial reporting and regulatory compliance experience with Canadian and U.S. publicly listed companies. Currently, Mr. Kniec is the CFO of TSX Venture Exchange listed company Integrity Gaming Corp., a position he has held since October 2012. Previously, Mr. Kniec was the CFO of Petro Vista Energy Corp. from October 2007 to January 2019.

  • Yang Liu
    Chief of Staff
  • Mr. Liu has over eight years’ experience in the hotel and restaurant industry and 10 years in the film and entertainment industry. Mr. Liu is an adjunct lecturer at Providence University (Taichung, Taiwan) in the Department of Mass Communication teaching college level courses in media and management. Mr. Mr. Liu holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a double degree in Hospitality Business and East Asian Languages and Culture from Michigan State University.

  • John Yu
    Chief Marketing Officer
  • Mr. Yu is a successful serial entrepreneur in the realm of consumer products and services. He began his career a software engineer at a Fortune 500 company, working with clients including Dell, Apple, and Sony. In 2005, he identified the outdated and frustrating process of buying diamond rings and seized the opportunity to start Taiwan’s first jewelry e-commerce site, ALUXE, disrupting the traditional industry to provide people a transparent, simple and joyful way to shop for and purchase engagement rings and wedding bands. Starting online and thriving offline, ALUXE now has 7 stores across Taiwan and Hong Kong and is actively expanding its footprint to more cities. Mr. Yu is also the founder of two fast-growing e-commerce sites specializing in daily necessities and sports gear, and he is currently a Director of TGI Friday’s, Texas Roadhouse, Dan Ryan’s Chicago Grill, and Smith & Wollensky restaurants in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

  • Michael Liu
    EVP Operations
  • Mr. Liu was previously the Head of Commercial for Deliveroo in Taiwan, which involved leading a commercial team of over 40 professionals connected to a portfolio of over 5,000 restaurant partners. Prior to that role, he was the Chief Operations Officer of the Supreme Café Group from 2014-2018, where he oversaw 55 locations in four countries. He was previously Director of Operations for Waves Coffee International from 2010-2014.

  • Darryl Cardey
    Director
  • Mr. Darryl S. Cardey is a principal of CDM Capital Partners Inc., a firm that provides corporate finance advisory services to private and public companies, since April 2011. Mr. Cardey has and continue to act as a director or in a senior financial role with a wide variety of private and public companies in the mining and technology sectors. Mr. Cardey holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants, British Columbia.

  • Darren Devine
    Director
  • Mr. Devine is a principal of CDM Capital Partners Inc., a firm that provides corporate finance advisory services to private and public companies. Mr. Devine also acts as a director or officer to a number of junior public companies in the natural resources and technology sectors. Mr. Devine currently serves on the board of directors of two TSX Venture Exchange listed companies, Chakana Copper Corp., as a director, and Dolly Varden Silver Corp., as Chairman of the Board. In addition, he is currently an active member of the TSX Venture Exchange’s Local Advisory Committee. Mr. Devine is qualified as a barrister and solicitor in British Columbia, as well as in England and Wales. Prior to founding CDM Capital Partners, Mr. Devine practiced exclusively in the areas of corporate finance and securities law.

  • Freddy Liu

  • Mr. Liu is a Taiwan based finance professional with over 20 years of experience primarily in the technology sector. Mr. Liu is the Chief Strategy Officer and former CFO of Taiwan Stock Exchange listed TPK Holdings, a manufacturer of touch panels for tablets, laptops and phone and a primary supplier to Apple. Mr. Liu has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Best CFO Taiwan in the technology sector from Institutional Investor. Mr. Liu holds an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and speaks fluent Taiwanese and English.

  • Kai Huang
    Co-Founder & Director
  • Mr. Huang was the co-founder and CEO of Blue Goji, an interactive fitness company that brings motivation and fun to health and fitness. Prior to Blue Goji, he co-founded the video game publisher RedOctane and was President and CEO of the company from 1999 to 2009. RedOctane was the publisher of Guitar Hero, which went on to become a multi-billion dollar global video game franchise and was acquired by Activision in 2006. Prior to RedOctane, Mr. Huang was the co-founder and CEO of Adux Software, which was sold in 1999. Mr. Huang started his career as a consultant with Accenture in the San Francisco office. Mr. Huang is a member of the Board of Trustees of UC Berkeley and advisor to SparkLabs Taipei and SparkLabs Korea.

  • Edward Wright
    Director
  • Mr. Wright is an experienced leader with a proven track record of building high functioning teams and quality brands at an international level. He previously served as CEO and Director of CRH Medical Corporation, which was later acquired by WELL Health (TSX: WELL). During his tenure with CRH Medical, Mr. Wright received the BC CEO of the Year Award for the Small/Medium Business Public Company category in 2015.

    Prior to this, Mr. Wright was the Senior Vice President of Retail for the Cartier North America division of Richemont (SIX:CFR, JSE:CFR), and previously served as President of the Baume & Mercier North America division of Richemont SA.

    Mr. Wright is currently a trustee for Vancouver College after serving as both a board member and Chair over a ten-year period, and has served as a board member of Poplar Grove Winery since 2017.

  • Kent Wu

  • Mr. Wu is a seasoned entrepreneur with demonstrated excellence in e-commerce & logistics, strategic partnerships, digital marketing, team development, and tech stack development. He is the founder and CEO of the e-commerce grocery platform Milk & Eggs, acquired in 2019 by National Strategic. He is also the Co-Founder of TAC City Airsoft, the largest airsoft arena company in Los Angeles with 2 locations admitting more than 100,000 people per year. Previously, Mr. Wu was the founder & CEO of online shooting sports equipment retailer Airsplat, which was acquired in 2016 and was named one of the 500 Largest Online Retailers by Internet Retailers, and one of the Largest Minority Owned Businesses by LA Business Journal. Mr. Wu was also the founder and CEO of 2 Wheel Bikes, one of the fastest growing online retailers of cycling equipment and accessories, acquired in 2014. He is currently the Managing Director of SKW Asset Holdings LLC, a real estate investment and management firm with US$20 million in assets under management. Mr. Wu has been featured multiple times in Inc Magazine’s 5,000 list, as well as Entrepreneur Magazine’s Hot 500, and 30 Under 30 lists.
